Shimrit Bainhoren, CEO

Shimrit directs the MAOZ organization. Shimrit joined the MAOZ team in 2015, and in her last role, she managed the Change & Strategy Platform. In this position, she oversaw the accompaniment of Network members’ social change initiatives through the Meitzim (Accelerators), Knowledge Center, investment platforms and Technology Unit. In addition, she led MAOZ’s organizational strategy.

Shimrit previously directed the Meitzim and accompanied social change initiatives as a Portfolio Manager, after initially joining MAOZ as the Network Team Coordinator.

Prior to joining MAOZ, Shimrit worked at a mediator and senior facilitator at Gevim Group. She has rich and diverse experience in facilitation, leading organizational processes, and personally accompanying senior managers. She has also established social and technological ventures.

A lawyer and mediator by training, Shimrit holds a BA in law from Bar-Ilan University. She is married to Ori and they live in Kfar Saba with Eliya, Evyatar, Lee and Adi.

Nitzan Ben Dov, Chief Global Acceleration Officer

Nitzan is the Chief Global Acceleration Officer. On her last roll she was Chief Accelerators Officer, before that she was chief of staff. before that she managed the 'starter' unit in MAOZ, a professional unit established during the COVID period and accompanies dozens of local organizations a year to strengthen the effectiveness of these organizations and promote quality of life and socio-economic resilience in the local area. Nitzan joined MAOZ in 2019, as a portfolio manager in the accelerator programs, after running the Consciousness Organization for three years, which deals with the fight against prostitution in Israel. In the years she managed Consciousness, the association won the Genesis Award for being an innovative and technological project dedicated to preventing violence and harassment online and developed the first digital program of its kind in Israel, for violence prevention for boys and girls in collaboration with HIT. Prior to that, she managed the field of education and information in the Assistance Centers for victims of sexual assault and led several projects to reduce social, emotional and educational gaps in the social periphery and geographers of Israel. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and human resources from Tel Hai College, and a master's degree in gender studies from Ben-Gurion University. Graduate of the Management Excellence Program in Matan Social Organizations.

Arnon Meir, Chief Knowledge & Strategy Officer

As the chief knowledge, strategy and change leadership director, Arnon is responsible for formulating organizational strategy and facilitating its planning and implementation in the various departments in MAOZ. He leads data-driven development and impact-oriented thinking and manages the accelerator, knowledge, impact and R&D teams. Arnon began his professional career as a parliamentary correspondent at Channel 1, where he became intimately familiar with decision-making processes and actions being taken in Israel. He most recently served as director of impact and government relations at the Israel Democracy Institute. Arnon is a MAOZ Network member (MAKOM Cohort 1) and holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the Open University and an MBA from Ariel University. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife Etty and their four children.

Abed Assli, CFO

Abed is the CFO at MAOZ. He joined MAOZ in July 2023 after formerly serving as acting CEO of Reut Group. Previously Abed held the position of deputy CEO and head of socioeconomic affairs of Reut Group.

Abed has extensive experience in leading strategic development; business development; building and maintaining partnerships; strategic thinking and planning; researching and drafting policy papers; developing indices and measuring impact for social organizations; leading complex financial and social change and development processes; and managing players on the ground. Abed also has extensive experience in training, developing and cultivating human capital; financial management; and managing and running civil society organizations.

Ofira Goldwasser, HR & Organizational Development Director

Ofira is the HR and organizational development director at MAOZ.  Prior to taking on this role, she served as organizational development manager at Colmobil. Her background and experience in the business sector include a number of fields — tech, operational excellence, corporate responsibility and human resources. Within her various positions, she has led significant change and improvement processes advancing inclusive organizational cultures, career development programs and optimal employee experiences. Ofira is also a certified personal coach and a Whole Brain Method mentor.

Naomi Toledano Kandel, Director of Communications

Naomi is the director of the communications unit at MAOZ. For the past two decades, Naomi has worked as a government spokesperson and as a media and strategic conslutant for third sector organizations. In her most recent position, she served as the head of communications and spokesperson department at the Office of Israel's tenth president, Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin. Naomi began her professional career in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, in a number of positions involving Israeli and foreign media. She later worked as a producer for the international Associated Press agency, both in Israel and abroad. Naomi is a mother of four, married to Roi, and lives in Beit Gamliel. She holds a B.A. in comparative and general literature and media and journalism, and an M.A. in diplomacy and security.

Natalie Moshe Guterman, Resource Development Senior Director

Natalie Moshe Guterman manages the resource development team at MAOZ, responsible for philanthropic revenues and partnerships with MAOZ’s investors who collaborate with us in achieving our shared mission of fostering Israel’s social and economic resilience. Natalie joined MAOZ after three years in New York, where she led the Israeli Consulate’s Community Relations Department and spearheaded collaborations with academic, startup and nonprofit organizations. Natalie has a background in informal education, having served as an Access for All program facilitator to improve accessibility to academia for adults from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. She has also worked with at-risk youth through the Alternative Learning Space project and PUSH for Success. Natalie holds a degree in psychology and special education from Tel Aviv University, and she completed the Gvanim Community Leadership program in New Jersey.

Natalie lives in moshav Mishmeret with her husband Yair and their three children, Avigail, Yoni and Eli.

Shuli Alexander, VP Network & Ventures

Shuli is the VP Network and ventures at MAOZ, responsible for recruitment and admission, Network development and leadership of the ventures. She is a Network member and a graduate of the Advot program (Cohort 5). Shuli recently retired from military service after 27 years in the IDF, the majority of which she spent in education roles. Through her service, she was tasked with overseeing a number of core areas, including managing the education system in IDF units, resilience and cohesion, heritage and values and integrating unique population groups and preparing them for IDF service. She was also the commander of the IDF Education Corps training base and managed the “Magen” program. In her last position, she founded the IDF’s “Individual Department”. Shuli holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Bar-Ilan University and a master’s degree in management, leadership and education from Tel Aviv University.

Einat Tzuk, North Accelerators Director

Prior to her current role, Einat Tzuk directed the MAKOM joint venture. Before that, she spearheaded MAOZ's local change leadership activities, where she accompanied leaders in northern Israel in planning and implementing change processes. She has also been part of creating and leading training programs as part of public sector internship initiatives, including in transportation infrastructure management and strategy and urban planning. She holds a master's degree in organizational consulting and development. She has two children and grew up in the Jezreel Valley, where she still lives today.

Dr. Chanan Cohen, Trust Research & Development Manager

Dr. Chanan Cohen oversees the trust R&D unit at MAOZ. Trust R&D focuses on developing knowledge, tools and practices related to trust-building while constantly engaging with real-world situations. Over the past few years, he has conducted studies on trust, socioeconomic resilience, social polarization and local government. He oversees a case-study framework within the organization which involves creating and delivering unique Israeli case studies on topics such as trust, leadership and driving change. Dr. Cohen lives in Jerusalem. He is married to Lilach and they have four children, Eitan, Roni, Hodaya and Shachar. He holds a doctorate in political science from Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His doctoral research focused on the impact of local violence and sociodemographic shifts on Jewish-Arab relations in municipal elections within mixed cities in Israel from 1983 to 2013. Prior to his current position, Dr. Cohen worked as a researcher at the Guttman Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research at the Israel Democracy Institute. During his time there, he contributed to the drafting of the Israeli Democracy Index from 2014 to 2017, conducted a study on the national religious sector in Israel in 2014, and co-authored "A Conditional Partnership," a study on Jews and Arabs in Israel in 2017. Dr. Cohen has also lectured and engaged in further studies within various frameworks in Israel.

Lior Zorno Heffes, Director of MAOZ South

Lior is the director of MAOZ South, and a Network member from the second cohort of the MAKOM program. Lior previously managed partnerships and strategic development of the Western Negev Cluster and worked at a start-up company for local economic development. Lior has many years of experience in creating young communities, working in the periphery and leading inter-sectoral processes. She is the co-founder and former joint-CEO of Tozeret Ha’aretz, an organization active in cities in Israel's periphery. Today she serves as co-chair of the organization. Over the years, Lior has worked in entrepreneurship, organizational development and consulting, and managing and leading multi-sector change.  Among other things, she managed the Ayalim student villages in Lod, was a director of the Lod Development Fund and a member of the Mifal HaPais public council. Lior holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Organizational consulting and development from the College of Management Academic Studies. Lior is also a graduate of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership and holds a certificate in mediation and group facilitation. She is married to Natan and mother to Eliya, Lavi, Ivri, and Ori. The family lives in Kibbutz Kramim in the Negev.

Liron Meisels-Baharav, PhD, Director of Trainings

Liron is the director of leadership training at MAOZ, responsible for pedagogy and content development and for professional development of the Fellows, Network and Ecosystem Programs. She previously managed both the INBAR program and training within the healthcare Network. Liron has more than a decade of experience in consulting and guidance in business and local authority development. Within these positions, she supported managers and entrepreneurs in personal development and business change processes, and constructed seminars and training courses for various organizations in the business and third sectors. At the same time, even before joining MAOZ, she worked to advance employment policies for minority groups.

Reut Berg Zaccai, Portfolio Director, Accelerators Department

As Portfolio Director Reut manages Change processes in MAOZ’s strategic focus. In her previous position, she oversaw the guild leading change at MAOZ and worked on the professional development of portfolio managers and of effective perspectives and models for accompaniment. Before that, Reut managed the Starter Unit, which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic, and accompanied dozens of organizations a year, bolstering their effectiveness and improving quality of life and socioeconomic resilience in the local space.

In the past, Reut served as the manager of Knesset and local authority activities at The Social Guard, an organization that encourages civic participation in Israel's democratic processes so that people can take charge of their own lives. Before that, she worked at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Israel, managing communities, establishing the volunteer system and managing projects. Reut has also previously served as the chair of “Osim Shinui” ("Making a Change"), a national student movement working to improve the status of social workers in Israel. She holds a master’s degree in organizational consulting from Bar-Ilan University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Tel Aviv University. She is the mother of Mika and Rani, married to Amir, and lives in Tel Aviv.

Dr. Sara Heller, Director of Welfare Joint Venture

Dr. Sara Heller is the director of Welfare joint venture. In her previous positions at MAOZ, she managed the employment joint venture and the joint venture accelerator unit, which accompanies Network members through their change processes. Sara specializes in managing and leading ultra-Orthodox employment initiatives, demonstrating high levels of sensitivity to the community. She serves as a liaison between the government and private programs and between rabbis within the ultra-Orthodox community. She has established numerous programs to advance employment in the ultra-Orthodox sector and currently manages the Yaad Institute — part of the Kemach Foundation. Sara lives in Kiryat Ye'arim and is a mother of nine and grandmother of four. She earned her doctorate in conflict management and resolution at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She is also a psychotherapist and works evenings in a private clinic treating troubled young ultra-Orthodox women.

Yoav Bakshi-Yeivin, Director of MAKOM Joint Venture

Yoav Bakshi-Yeivin is the director of the MAKOM joint Venture. In his previous position at MAOZ, he managed the MAOZ Emergency Innovation Fund and served as director of business development.

Yoav previously worked as a product manager at Remilk, an Israeli unicorn that manufactures bio-identical milk proteins. Before that, he served as the head of business development at the Menora Mivtachim-owned energy company, which initiates and establishes renewable energy projects throughout Israel.

Before entering the business sector, Yoav spent four years managing MAOZ accelerator cases which dealt with, among other things, the land management crisis in the Arab sector; assisting local authorities in coping with COVID-19; industrial zoning in local authorities, and more.

Before coming to MAOZ, Yoav founded and spent four years managing GUG-Design, a design and branding company. He was also one of the founders of the "Hitorerut in Jerusalem” movement and served as a Jerusalem city council member on its behalf, at the age of 30. He also spent three years as a parliamentary advisor for MK Amram Mitzna and was an adult coordinator within the Beit Hakerem branch of the Scouts Movement, establishing the Ha’Ela and Yonatan tribes.

Yoav is an active reservist in the General Staff Operations Directorate. He lives in Givatayim with his wife, Talia.

Dr. Sefi Melchior, Director of EDUCATION Joint Venture

Sefi is director of the EDUCATION joint venture at MAOZ. Prior to this position, she served as director of the department of education and community in the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. She was responsible for formal and informal education, enrichment and leisure activities for diverse population groups, and she fostered community-building within the regional council. Among her previous positions, she also served as an organizational development manager and organizational consultant at Clalit Health Services, while teaching organizational sociology at the Achva Academic College and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Prior to that, Sefi worked in curriculum development and training in the pre-elementary division of the Ministry of Education; for Israeli Educational Television; and at the Society for the Protection of Nature. Sefi is married to Alon, mother of Nitzan, Shachar and Ofri, and lives in Midreshet Ben-Gurion. She holds a doctorate in organizational sociology from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

Ron Feinman, Director of the INBAR Joint Venture

Before taking up her current position, Ron both managed the INBAR program and was a facilitator in the program.  She also worked as part of the accelerator staff and accompanied Network leaders in formulating and implementing change processes. Before joining MAOZ, Ron worked as an HR manager in the tech industry, initiating, leading and supporting individual and group processes. Ron holds a master’s degree in social work. She is married to Daniel, and mother to Omri, Erez and Eyal. She grew up on a kibbutz and now lives with her family in Kibbutz Beit Nir in the Yoav Regional Council.

Shahar David, Director of Operational Excellence

Shahar David is the director of operational excellence at MAOZ, managing operations and procurement for the Network. In this capacity, Shahar accompanies the Network teams in planning, implementing and applying feedback from major processes and events. He implements innovative approaches and tools from the field of operational excellence, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and maximizing resources, leading strategic projects to expand the Network’s infrastructure, in pursuit of MAOZ’s vision and goals. Shahar joined MAOZ in 2019, managing and leading various fields within the Network, including operations, procurement, IT and graphic design. He gained significant experience in project management, building work processes and leading the efforts of third parties within his prior position in the Ministry of Defense, where he served as an acting facility commander. Shahar is married to Bar and is the father of Emanuel and Daniel. He is originally from Ashdod, and lives in Yehud. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and human resources from Bar-Ilan University.

Yair Schindel

  Dr. Yair Schindel Co-Founded Maoz in 2010, served as CEO in early years and as board member until 2014. As business and social entrepreneur, Yair helped co-found, establish and manage other organisations including the national government bureau of Digital Israel, the 8400 Health Network and Start-up Nation Central. More recently he is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of aMoon Ventures, a leading HealthTech investment fund based in Israel and Boston. Born into a family of physicians, Yair’s parents and grandparents are doctors. His grandparents were also Schindler’s List Holocaust survivors who escaped Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps. Yair began his career as a physician, but pivoted to a life in innovation and entrepreneurship. He earned his BSc and MD degrees at Ben-Gurion University’s Medical School and his MBA at the Harvard Business School. Prior to b-school Yair served as an officer with IDF Special Forces, in his last position served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Israeli Navy Seals, aka “Shayetet 13." Yair is married to Hila and they have 3 children.

DR. Yoav Heller

Yoav has served as CEO of MAOZ since 2014 until 2021. At the beginning of his professional career, he was part of the staff that established Ynet, Israel's largest online media site, and went on to serve as one of its senior editors. Following his time at Ynet, Yoav made a career change and became Deputy General Manager at the Branco Weiss Institute. During his time at Branco Weiss, he supervised 200 employees, fundraised, managed a budget of roughly NIS 50 million, and was responsible for executing large-scale educational projects and working with government agencies, including the Ministries of Education, Absorption and Welfare. After six years at Branco Weiss, Yoav moved to London, where he lectured about history, served as an advisor to various local Jewish organizations and was the Director of the Israel Connect European Young Leadership Program. A historian, Yoav specializes in Holocaust research. He obtained his BA in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies and his MA in Management and Education at Tel Aviv University before completing his Ph.D. in History at the University of London, Royal Holloway College Holocaust Research Institute. Yoav served as the chairman of the national student campaign to reduce university tuition in the late 1990s and is a reserve officer in an elite Air Force combat unit. He lives in Tel-Aviv with his wife and two children.
