The MAOZ Network is a home for senior, influential professional from all parts of Israeli society who act with responsibility and commitment toward Israel’s social and economic challenges. The Network serves as a platform for learning, advancing action and promoting cross-sector collaboration, with the goal of building a culture of trust and advancing systemic solutions to strengthen Israel’s socioeconomic resilience.
The strength of the MAOZ Network lies in the presence, participation and active responsibility among its members. To fulfill its purpose, the Network must be a safe space for its diverse members, grounded in high levels of trust. We are committed to safeguarding the Network as such, even in times of crisis.
The MAOZ Network Compass aims to clearly define our shared values and guiding principles as the MAOZ Network. The compass is designed to create an agreed-upon code of conduct and professional and ethical standards that build trust in times of disagreement and division. This enables the MAOZ Network fulfill its role as a space for connection and dialogue, professional development, joint action and advancing trust and systemic solutions within members’ spheres of influence, in order to strengthen Israel’s social and economic resilience.
Mamlachtiut (Common Good) > The State of Israel is a Jewish and democratic state committed to equality and prosperity for all its citizens.
Strengthening Foundations > The cornerstone of our mission is strengthening public systems and socioeconomic infrastructure, and their capacity to meet the challenges of a of complex and changing reality in Israel and globally. We aim to strengthen the public sector, local government, the business sector and civil society, and to increase trust and collaboration among them so they may act effectively for the benefit of all citizens.
Solidarity > The Network is a space for leaders who want to live together in the State of Israel and act with sensitivity towards one another and mutual respect. We are driven by compassion, and we act with the recognition that each of us has the ability to listen, learn, take responsibility and lead. We are all here to stay, no one is going anywhere.
Leading in Complexity > In a reality of disagreement and polarization, we are committed to deeply understanding different, and even opposing, stories and worldviews, to courageously manage irreconcilable tensions, and to strive toward creating a shared space in which we can prosper as a society and a state.
Leaders Setting an Example > We are committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethics and to serving as an example of trust-building culture in our professional work and in the public and personal spheres.
Shared Responsibility > Every Network member shares responsibility for furthering the mission of the MAOZ Network within Israeli society. We are responsible for taking an active role in making the Network relevant and impactful in addressing Israel’s complex challenges and in working toward the future and prosperity of the State of Israel.
The MAOZ Network: Long-Term > Despite the challenges and difficult times, we are experiencing, we believe in the strength of Israeli society. We understand that perseverance and a long-term commitment to collaborative action will lead us and future generations toward resilience and prosperity. We keep our heads high and our eyes on the future. We are in it for the long run, and our commitment is unwavering.
The red lines define the ethical, normative, and cultural boundaries of the Network, creating a safe space with clear mutual expectations.
LAW > We commit to uphold the laws of the State of Israel.
MAINTAININIGM MAMLACHTIUT > We are committed to a standard of behavior, action and speech upholding the principles of mamlachtiut (common-good). We will not allow conduct, action or speech that is racist, inciteful, hurtful, violent, harassing, degrading or discriminatory; speech that includes threats or support of criminal activity or acts of terror; speech that denies the existence of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.
Trust-Building Language > Use sensitive and inclusive language within the Network, avoiding generalizations or harmful words. Uphold respectful and constructive dialogue.
Placing Work at the Center > Within the Network, we strive to advance a professional mission in the public interest and for mutual support, not for personal, political, economic, or other gain.
Fairness > We will neither request nor offer an unfair advantage to any Network member.
Discretion > We commit to maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of Network members who share challenges in training programs, online discussions, and events.
Network members are responsible for implementing the Compass through personal and Network mechanisms, addressing issues as they arise, and continuously updating the Compass.
The Ethics Committee, which operates according to a code of conduct designed to establish and maintain behavioral norms and formalize responses to deviation among Network members, oversees protocols for addressing members who deviate from the Compass, whether within the Network or in any public sphere.
Version 1.0 of the Network Compass was written throughout 2024 with the involvement of over 1,000 Network members, staff, management and board members. The compass is expected to be updated again by January 2026.
